Am I missing something?

Read this article about abstinence and STDs and see if you can figure out how they reach the conclusion they do from the facts of the study. (Note especially the statistic mentioned in the last line of the article)

Note to researchers: Wouldn't a more accurate and useful study be to compare the STD rates of people who are actually abstinent, not just say they are? Since when does 'abstinence' = saying you won't have sex even though you do anyway?
