Happy Thoughts--May 17, 2004

Things that make me happy:

1. Fresh baked bread

2. Going over the 3000 hit mark for my site (sure, still small potatoes, but hey...)

3. Absolutely absurd happenings with friends, such as this one last night:

(The scene: a group of couples are sitting around the table eating and chatting.)

Husband A (just making conversation, apparantly): "So...my wife's being having a hemorrhoid problem recently..."
(Silence. Everyone gives him weird looks. Wife A looks embarrassed.)
Wife B: "Why did you tell us that?"
Husband A, defensively: "Hey, it's not that big a deal--just a little bleeding. And hey, it's mentioned in the Bible!"
Husband C: "What? Hemorrhoids are mentioned in the Bible? Where?"
Husband A: "1st Corinthians, I think..."

(Husbands A and C immediately get up, grab their scriptures, and spend next ten minutes looking up hemorrhoid references.)

I swear I couldn't make this stuff up if I tried...

Things that DON'T make me happy:

1. Being sick. Which is why blogging was light last week and will probably be this week too. Just letting you know...

Q: But Baron, shouldn't being sick give you MORE blogging time?

A: Unfortunately, I'm not 'stay home from work' sick, just 'still go to work and be miserable and then come home and sleep in the evening' sick which is worse in some ways and not conducive to critical writing...
